Dear Parent

Anugraham Classes is proud to announce a “2 year Package Program” for the Plus Two Exams of 2005. Students entering XI Std (Plus One) are eligible to join this course.

The main objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive and exhaustive training, at a comfortable pace, for the 12th Std public exams as well as the professional courses entrance examinations of 2005. This should enable the student to score high marks in both the Board Exams and the Entrance Exams thereby helping him/her to secure a top seat in the Engineering college of their choice and the branch of study they would like to specialise in.

The course is for a duration of 19 months starting from July 2003. We plan to cover relevant 11th Std portions during the first six months, which will facilitate in providing a very strong foundation in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. As early as January 2004 coaching for the 12th Std begins with a highly structured program for a very effective preparation.

Plenty of writing exercises/practice will be given, which will help the students to face the final examinations without fear.

As we go ahead completing the teaching of the theory portions and when sufficient ground has been covered in all the subjects, we will take up the coaching for Engineering Entrance Exams. This methodology of training has been found to be very successful as consolidation of the already learnt portions takes place from a totally different perspective—tackling objective type questions. The student feels that he has really become strong in the fundamentals and this in turn raises his confidence level further.

The training program for the Entrance Exams will take a very systematic and practical approach. Students will be announced in advance the topic for discussion in each subject. Worksheets containing multiple choice questions relating to each topic will be given and the Professor will discuss these questions in the class. In this way plenty of questions and their variations will be covered for a total preparation.

The highly effective and thorough preparation for the Board Exams and the Entrance Exams should pave the way for a student to reach great heights in his/her career. State Board School Syllabus — A Note and a Guide to the Parents
Introduction In the present day context of stiff competition in getting admission into Professional Courses, the importance of preparing well for the Higher Secondary final exams and the Tamil Nadu Engineering / Medical Entrance Exams needs no emphasis.
Tuition for 11th Standard? That’s a question that comes to the mind of parents who feel that preparation for the 12th Std (+2) is the one they and their child have to concentrate on. But we at Anugraham Classes beg to differ and would like to put some ideas before you.
Huge Difference in Syllabus The difference in the levels of syllabi of the various subjects between High School and Higher Secondary is huge. This huge gap comes as a big surprise and as a shock to most of the students as well as parents.

Added to this comes the pressure from teachers and relatives – telling them constantly about the need for studying well during these ‘crucial’ years to enter the portals of an engineering or a medical college – like one’s brother or a sister or a cousin.
Coaching at School Also, we would like to highlight upon what is happening in general in some of the schools. With the sole aim of getting 100% results in their 12th Std Board Exams such schools do not teach the fundamentals properly. They rush through the portions as if in a hurry and this has serious repercussions for the students in that they are unable to understand certain basic concepts in that short time frame. One reason that is attributed to this is—the question papers of the 12th State Board Exams are totally based on the content of the prescribed books and the students are expected to write the answers verbatim from these books. Even a subject like Mathematics is no exception.

This leads to ‘mugging-up’ or learning by rote, portions from the text books, blindly without ever worrying about the need to understand. This weakens the ‘foundation of knowledge’ of such students and this has long term implications like affecting their college studies!

Early Start to 12th Std Coaching An interesting reality every parent and student should know is that the time available for teaching the 12th Std students with reference to a normal academic year is just eight months (June-January). This short period hence does not provide any sort of leverage and leads to very tight situations.

Central to State - Board Switching We presently see a trend among parents to switch their wards from Central Board to State Board (10th Std to 11th Std). This change is done with a specific purpose in mind and hence should be taken to its logical and successful end.

Generally, the Central Board students have a better grounding and when they come to 11th Std (State Board) they find the subjects a bit ‘easier’ – bringing in a sense of laxity among them. But it should be noted that the approach for exam preparation is vastly different between the two boards and any mistake here will cost the student very dearly. Good Marks in Board Exams & Poor Performance in Entrance Exams! Anugraham Classes is going one-step ahead in the coaching of Plus Two students by integrating the classes for the Tamil Nadu Engineering / Medical Entrance Exams with that of the Plus Two Board Exams. This helps serve two main purposes.

One, it is found that the time available between the Plus Two final exams and the Professional Courses Entrance Exams (hereafter mentioned as Entrance Exams) is generally not sufficient for a thorough preparation for the Entrance Exams.

Second, the coaching for Plus Two Board Exams and the Entrance Exams in terms of the content is mutually complementary. The Entrance Exam is based basically on objective type questions which normally can be answered if concepts are well understood. So a parallel preparation will help the student understand the subjects better.

Also, the general observation is, year after year the Entrance Exams is getting tougher and tougher. So an early start to preparing for the Entrance Exam is definitely going to help a Plus Two student for the Entrance Exams.

About the Course

The course is in its fifteenth year of School Syllabus Coaching Program which started in 1988. The classes are held at our own premises with our own expert faculty consisting of college Professors.

Course Objective

The course provides an in-depth coaching of the subjects MATHEMATICS, PHYSICS and CHEMISTRY oriented towards an equally in-depth understanding of the concepts and topics dealt with in the Text Books. All the text books will be covered exhaustively page by page.

The course includes regular Tests and periodical Exams in all the subjects. Entrance Exam coaching in particular will have plenty of tests and class assignments almost exhausting the different types of objective type questions.

The objective of the course is achieved by making the student fare very well in his/her XII Std Public Exams and the Professional Courses Entrance Exams and come out with flying colours.
Study Materials

Well written study materials in the form of notes will be provided for Physics and Chemistry.

Exhaustive Study Materials neatly printed covering a wide range of Questions and Answers in all the subjects will be provided for the Entrance Exam Preparations.

Synopsis of the Plus Two Text Books (M/P/C/B) covering important formulae and definitions - an easy reference book will also be given.

Duration of the Course July to January (19 months)

Coaching for XI Std subjects begins July 2003. Coaching for XII Std subjects begins January 2004 and an intensive coaching schedule is planned during this term. There will be daily classes during May 2004 for full three weeks.

The last week of May 2004 and first week of June 2004 will be the mid-term holidays.
Class Timings

A minimum of three days per week regular evening sessions are planned as follows :

Saturdays 5.00 p.m. 7.30 p.m.

Additional days of lecture sessions for Engineering Entrance Exams will be intimated to the student through the display in the Institute’s Notice Board.
The number of classes (days) will be increased based on the portions covered. Additional special classes will also be held to make up for lost time if any.

Tests & Monitoring Regular periodical tests will be conducted.

The marks scored in the tests and the attendance details of the student will be sent to the parents once every month.
Model Exams Plenty of Revision Tests will be conducted during January 2004. Full portion model exams will be conducted to get the Examination Practice.
Require-ment from Students The student must be regular in attending the lecture classes and the periodical tests. Absence from lecture classes / tests will be taken seriously.
Parent / Student Counselling
Parents / Guardians are most welcome at any time to enquire about their ward's performance and progress. Regular Parents' meet will also be organised for getting the feedback and also discussing various issues regarding the course. Professors are also available for advice and other assistance required by the student.
